Within Walking Distance – June 2011
The lastest walk around my neighborhood allowed me to take in all the beauty that is currently blooming.
This Is My Normal – Outtakes
This is a collection of images taken for this project that I still really like, but didn’t end up using for the final exhibit.
This Is My Normal
This set represents my final project for my digital photography class. Here was my artist statement: To “mainstream America” my friends and I are not exactly categorized as “normal.” Personally, I’ve always hated that word and honestly do not believe there is a true normal. I am excited to use this project as an opportunity to challenge the idea of what is. I have documented my wonderfully “abnormal” friends and family. I have played with the themes of body modification, queerness, and gender. To my beautifully abnormal friends and chosen family, you’re fuckin’ perfect.
Lan Su Chinese Gardens
Lan Su Chinese Garden is located in downtown Portland and provides a beautiful urban retreat and photo opportunity.
iPhone Photo Adventures
I recently upgraded to the 4G version of the iPhone and have been thrilled with the major improvements to the camera on this phone over my old 2nd generation iPhone. Many of the photos that have ultimately been used in my 365 Photo project have come from using my iPhone through out the day. This page will serve as documentation of the capabilities of the iPhone with used of Apps such as Instagram, Iris, ProCamera, Slow Shutter, PicFX, and sometimes Tilt Shift Generator.
365 Photo Project
One of my commitments for 2011 is to take at least one photo per day as a way to use my camera more often and grow my skills. I will be using both my Nikon D80 and my iPhone as this will make sure I always have a camera on me. [NOTE: While this post will be limited to 20 pictures, new photos will be added to the Flickr set daily. Simply click on the Rusty Hinge photo above to see new photos.]
Even on an iPhone
All of the photos in this set have been taken on my original model iPhone. Its not the best camera in the world, but it does allow me to always have a camera on hand.
